Ossipon on the other hand handles matter in the order of urgency or as they arise. The professor is a lightly body sized individual with a big florid face having flat large ears departed widely from the sides of the skull. This kind of physical description makes the reader wear the real descriptive picture of the character in discussion and helps the reader to read the book while the mind is settled on certain imaginary picture that defines the character. The comparison aspect gives the reader the urge to continue reading the book and through their minds reflect the environment in discussion.

Conrad has used a lot of comparison; this has no major bad effect as it enables the reader to have the scene virtually in mind. Heat is a police officer working on a case involving recent explosion at Greenwich that resulted into the death of one person. The professor gets the information from Heat that he is not the main suspect in the recent bombings, but he is being monitored due to the past incidences that has linked him with terror activities. Inspector Heat is predisposed to see Michaelis to be the main suspect since during the event of the bombing, Michaelis is away on a mission to write a book and instead the fingers are turned towards Verloc.

The assistant commissioner is prejudiced in favor of Michaelis’ sine they have social ties and the commissioner does not want him to be implicated, nevertheless, the Assistant commissioner goes ahead to inform his superior that he can handle the case alone without the help of inspector Heat. The key evidence that leads the investigations away from Michaelis is as a result of an overcoat that had been discovered at the bombing scene which had all the shop address written on a certain label.
