For instance, the President who is the Executive can veto any bill passed by the Congress, the Congress can change the jurisdiction of the Judiciary and the Judiciary can declare passed by the legislature as unconstitutional. In the United States, Congress has the power to review, monitor and supervise the functioning of federal agencies. Congress can investigate various activities, through standing committees and legislative hearings.However, sometimes the Executive or the President can rule the opinion of Congress.

In other words, Congress could get influenced by the Executive's decision and outlook. The NSA domestic spy system was allowed to be carried forward, due to the lack of oversight by the Congress, and the President's green signal which had been given to it.Thus, Congress does play an important role by taking by oversight and review of various federal activities. However, this could be influenced by the Executive sometimes.
