Discussion Questions Wk. 3-8 Week 3 Question There is a considerable relationship between research question and interview questions, which can be understood by the similarities and differences between these. Research questions deals with the needs of a researchers and interview questions examines candidates appearing for the interview. In both the case questions are the major components. The similarity between the research questions and interview questions is to enhance the ideas as well as knowledge of an individual (Anderson, & Brown. 2010). On the other hand, the difference between research question and interview question is that research question deals with a specific topic and questions that needs to be searched and answered. Whereas, interview questions is a conversation continued between certain numbers of people, which is generally of direct face-to-face (Anderson, & Brown. 2010). Question 2 The criterion for good interview question is to provide standard questions, which the candidate can answer with dignity and the required information about the candidate can be achieved. Among the good interview questions to be asked to an interviewee two of the most prominent includes – “what do you perceive to be interesting in the new product?” and “What factors will improve our service?” The two questions that are needed to be improved includes “what should be the changes in the product?” and “What will make you purchase our product?” Question 3 The considerations that are to be undertaken during the structuring of interview schedule include the overviewing of every candidate, whether they are treated fairly or not and to put the meritorious candidates in the top list (Anderson, & Brown. 2010). The tradeoffs for the interview questions deals with some significant questions. These questions determine the ability of the candidates. These questions may not guide the candidates properly. Therefore, the modified structural questions are to be provided for the ease of the candidates (Anderson, & Brown. 2010). Question 4 During an interview, the questionnaires provided to the candidates are based on different categories. This category places the candidates to different sections. An individual may or may not be specific regarding the questions so different ethical criteria should be provided. While selecting a sampling method the consideration of ethical and justified questions are decisive in order to achieve a well-defined interview results (Anderson, & Brown. 2010). Week 4 Question 1 Through observing the body posture and gestures of the interviewee, data analysis is conducted prior to the beginning of formal and informal interactions. From the recorded information, the researcher can be assumed the inference during collecting data by using the past research experience (Merriam, 2014). As per the requirement of data analysis system, the methods of data collection will be related as well as depending upon collected data the techniques of the analysis can be changed. The researchers also requires to write or compute the collected data, this drives to data analysis and vice versa (Merriam, 2014). Question 2 Focus groups easily determine the reactions of the interviewees, results are easier to comprehend and can collect information from non-verbal communications, which has been the decisive advantage of focus (Belk, 2007). However, the disadvantage of it is that it could not cover all the aspects of information of the research (Belk, 2007). In the dissertations study, I would prefer to conduct Depth interview to the other methods to cover all phenomena (Belk, 2007). Question 3 Foreshadowed problems assist the data collection and analysis to structuring the data collection process effectively to find accurate result. At instances, it causes problems in data collection and data analysis as the targeted group sometimes could not cooperate with the researcher. Depending upon the collected data a researcher should use this technique for research (Belk, 2007). Week 5 Question 1 Observation is the analysis and examination of information or data that are collected from primary and secondary sources. An observer who is observing a specific data provides information according to the observation made. The role of the observer depends upon the criteria of the data. A specified data involves many important sections that require accumulating and organizing to produce it as essential information. The reviews provided by the observer regarding the observation influences the data collected, as the observation made by the observer results to many evident facts that might be useful regarding the progressive aspect of the data. Whenever an observer observes a data based on specific information provides their reviews. This review makes the data more useful in order to determine the needs or requirements of the study (Sonenthal, 2005). Moreover, the physical location of the observer in terms of providing useful aspect regarding the observation influences the observation criteria. The reason behind this is that observation criteria needs appropriate focus to fetch a determined outcome. Until and unless the observer puts the required attention and effort in segregating the data to make it useful the data cannot be made appropriate. Henceforth, both the factors i.e. observers’ role and observers’ physical location influence the observation criteria in the above-mentioned ways (Sonenthal, 2005). Question 2 The products of the thematic and structural analysis possess a different outcome when applied to a same set of data. Thematic analysis facilitates the observers to make a clear and distinctive study from the available data. On the other hand, structural analysis of a product refers to the overall productive analysis and observation made by the observer. The researchers can make a definite analysis by observing the products theme requirement identical with the product. This sort of analysis is appropriate for the products present in large numbers with same data set. Hence when both thematic and structural analysis is applied in a same set of data the research outcome will be different and classified according to the analysis made by the observers or researchers (Nugraha, 2010). Based on the above context, the structural analysis seems to be the more appropriate analysis in terms of product diversity applied in a specific data. Structural analysis is mainly useful in the conditions, where the products are to be classified according to the geometric and structural basis. The structural analysis provides a better review when applied to a system based on systematic structures. Such as mechanism and structural sectors, where products can be justified or analyzed using the structural analysis (Nugraha, 2010). Question 3 The different kinds of software tools used for managing case studies include SAS, SPSS and ANALYTICA. Using these tools, an observer can manage case studies relevant with the data present. SAS software tool is reasonably difficult to integrate, but it enables the researchers to modify as well as enhance their case studies to make it relevant as well as significant (Striegnitz & Litcher, n.d). Moreover, the SAS software tool can manage vast data files as well as variables. Through utilizing SAS software tool, many analytical as well as qualitative approaches can be presented in accordance to the present data (Nugraha, 2010). The SAS software tool enables the users to manage the information and data in the case studies in every possible way. The SAS software can be hazardous for the users because it does not deliver the ease of usage to its users (Nugraha, 2010). Another software tool SPSS is also identified to manage case studies with relevant information and data. The beginners generally use this software as it provides ease in the usage of the software. SPSS software tool is eco-friendly in using; this highlights its advantages as well as enables the users to work with the software. SPSS software allows free use of Excel without any hazard (Nugraha, 2010). This advantage resembles the appropriate use of the data needed for accessing Excel, such as to manage the values and missing figures, and detecting the labels. This software is restricted to an extent for utilizing the advantages of the software. Unlike SAS software, SPSS software tool does not provide the accessibility of using the software efficiently with multiple functional activities. Here the software tools SPSS and SAS makes a quality difference in performance of tasks. The ANALYTICA software tool proves to be the prior in the analysis based on statistics. It facilitates easy usage of statistics based regression, Poisson regression, and logistic regression. This software generally derives and analyzes the factors related with statistical analyzing (Nugraha, 2010). It can be derived from the above discussion the ANALYTICA software tool is useful in statistical analysis. From the other two above discussed software SAS, SPSS the ANALYTICA software tool is different and are comparatively difficult to use. Hence, the SAS and SPSS software will be more justified and useful in analyzing the case study (Nugraha, 2010). The software tool SPSS will be effective in order to make the research in the paper evitable and significant. The software tool SPSS is independent to utilize than from the two other software tools SAS and ANALYTICA. In a particular research, a researcher has to make researches as well as calculations as demanded by the nature of the research. It is reasonably apparent from the above discussion that SPSS software tool provides much better facilities compared from the other tools, whether it is in terms to make calculations in the excel sheets or to manage files all this factors can be managed without any obstacle. The case studies as well as researches involve many such case studies, which require to provide a comprehensive view accordingly. Hence, it can be said that the SPSS software tool will be more effective in the dissertation research (Nugraha, 2010). Week 6 Question 1 In a specified criteria or context, where a conversation is conducting between two people and one asks another that how was the experience of a lecture class taught by the first person. The review given by the first person to the second person was reasonably positive. Now, it depends upon the observer or listener to determine the manner through which the review passed on by the second person will be considered. The reviews passed on derive two interpretations possessing utterance or meaning. The categories in which the reviews will be classified to get a meaningful data are the literal category and the figurative category. Now in these categories, the meaning relies on how the figurative and the literal notion will be placed to make the context meaningful and evident. The above-mentioned categories will be interpreted in a manner through which the speech or the conversation is been said (Requejo, 2007). The influence of both the categories literal and figurative depicts to be the knowledge of the interpreter as well as the literal category carries out a literal meaning with direct focus on the type of conversation and its nature (Bergen, n.d.). Question 2 To analyze the interview data the approaches to be made includes keeping a record of the whole interview so that the process or the data can be accessed easily for future use. Moreover, it is also necessary to prepare an exclusive note of the incidents executing in the interview and later on review the note and modify it according to the needs. The recorded subjects are to be kept in a different and distinctive way so that the data will be easy to search and to make a thorough reading in order to modify the needed requirements. All these three respective approaches are essential in terms of analyzing an interview data. The record keeping criteria needs to be followed repeatedly in terms of analyzing the interview data. The other two approaches are comparatively important but the record keeping criteria will help in improving the interview process along with the reliability of data (Folkestad, 2008). Question 3 The criteria of the record keeping approach will be the most appropriate in order to get the optimum result as well as to make the dissertation evitable. The reason behind such is that more the evident facts will remain in form of records; it would be supportive to make the dissertation appropriate. As from the above discussions, it can be said that the above-mentioned criterion is suitable for this research (Folkestad, 2008). Week 7 Question 1 In the article ‘Transforming the Delivery of Health and Social Care’, by Hess and Orthmann (2009) triangulation of data was extensively involved. The article by Hess and Orthmann (2009) gathered information from online book and related journal to aware the people engaged with health services by qualitative methods. On the other hand, quantitative methods collects data by preparing questionnaire and correspondingly analyze through using several statistical tools in order to compare and evaluate the results, which represents the thoughts and perceptions of the respondents (Hess and Orthmann, 2009). Triangulation of data supports to generate accurate and reliable results if the execution is unbiased. It has a stronger research design, which is flexible and can adapt any form of changes in the research methods. The researchers can take sample from considerably large population and by applying different kinds of research techniques; he/she can compute accurate results from the research. If the result from one tool fails to proof a hypothesis, other tools can be used to prove the same (Hess and Orthmann, 2009). Thus, the triangulation of data affects the outcome of a research study. For conducting an effective triangulation in a research study, I will collect information from secondary sources to gain the knowledge about the research as qualitative methods. By using statistical tools such as regression, correlation, and other statistical tools, I can cross check the result generated from qualitative methods. This method supports to conduct the research in depth, which is not possible by choosing one-research techniques (Gorard and Taylor, 2004). Question 2 To maximize the consistency of data in the research process, team efforts should be required while conducting a research. Therefore, the team members should get proper training to increase their efficiency in work performance and sustain the consistency in research results. Every team member should have a standard education, which supports them in their research process and help them to use their theoretical knowledge practically. An effective training system develops their research skills and enhances their psychological assumptions to connect real research field as well as reduce the biasness in data collection and corresponding data analysis. The training process has to enhance their intellectual power to understand the concept of every research topic and choose the best alternative tools for collecting and analyzing data (Dul & Hak, 2008). Training process increases the management skill to manage all the resource and make effective use of those resources for conducting research. Proper training assists the researchers to perform the research through considering ethical and moral parts of the research and sustain the reliability so that the user can use the right information as per their requirements. It enhances the communication and technical skills of the researchers and assists them to collect the data quickly by maintaining and respecting the human relations (Cartwright, 2003). Task 8 Question 1 Over the few past few years, case studies focusing on the social science and psychological area of the society have been considerably prominent. The article by Shaller & Darby (2009) elaborates on family centered care and the important issues related such care services. As it is discussed about the clinical studies and other pediatric health services, it has a complex structure, wherein the personal involvement and effective relation to the information is decisive. Thus, it provides valuable information regarding the topic, which will help the readers in future (Shaller & Darby, 2009). In the article by Anderson and Brown (2010), it was discussed with the help of case study method, where it critically discussed about functions and dysfunctions of hierarchy and elaborated its important factors. However, in the article by Ham, Dixon and Brooke (2012), secondary literature was extensively used for obtaining the research outcome. It contains authoritative information, which helps the readers to understand the discussion about the topic, which undoubtedly ensured the reliability of the data (Ham, Dixon and Brooke, 2012). From the above discussion, it is eminent that one of the studies is related to psychological factors, while the other is related to social science factors. As case study was used in the research it provides new innovative ideas for research and examines the rare factors on social and psychological matters (Anderson and Brown, 2010; Shaller, 2009). The literature study give a perfect overview about the topic in the article by Ham, Dixon and Brooke (2012) and supports the readers understand about the care services by giving knowledge of different types of related cares (Ham, Dixon and Brooke, 2012). Question 2 Political phenomena are easily illustrated by the case study method. Gender discrimination, disabilities, health care services are considerably difficult to represent by the quantitative methods. Case study method provides hypothetical statements rather providing accurate solution from the study of the social or physical issue, which assist the reader (Yin, 2013). Data collection helps organizing the descriptive data in depth but at instances, it lacks reliability, authenticity, and analyzing different topics, and correspondingly provides scope to investigate the topics in depth (Sapsford, 2006).Data can be easily accessed from any kind of sources but it can be costlier. The researchers can use published data when they needed but at instances, the information lacks reliability (Sapsford, 2006). Different types of techniques can be used in analyzing process and it supports in overcoming the deficiency but it may increase the technical confusion, which in turn affects the research result (Sapsford, 2006). In the data collection process, the ill effects can be managed by preparing an effective structure for research. For publishing the data, the effectiveness of publishing area should be checked whether the information could be accessed easily or not. Along with that, the researcher should consider the effectiveness of the statistical or other tools to reduce the errors in research (Sapsford, 2006). Question 3 From the personal perspective, it is necessary to focus on the objective of the study and know about the requirement of the study while conducting a case study. It is also necessary to get involved directly in the study in practical way and select the best methods for conducting the study. I have to choose the technical tools, which can assist me to extract the result from analyzing the raw data. It is decisive to maintain the five Cs while conduct such case study. The first C is control, I have to control over the situation to capture all the phenomenon of the study, after that I have to choose the controversial topics, which effect the environment and study it in depth. Moreover, I have to have an excellent command on the subject to clear on learning goals. It is also important to determine, whether I should give my personal opinion (can I help) for the topic to aware the people. Subsequently, I have to consider my reflection as well as people or other reflects collecting from reliable journal and books. To maximize the research value all the factors and resources of the case have to coordinate to reduce the misconception and lose of details I have to give suggestion on the challenges regarding social or other problems, so that the problems could be minimized. Eventually, I have to write the opinions in a structured story method, which can elaborate the core facts or challenges of the study, which will increase the interest of the readers (Yin, 2013).
