This method only works when actual damage is detected and the damage incurred should be have sufficient quantities in order to have accuracy (Arnold 1996) Compliance testing Also known as compliance testing,it’s a method used basically by engineers to ensure that products produced, processes used and systems used meets the used standards to ensure there are less defective products (Besterfield 2004). Difference and significance of natural and assignable variations Understanding variation is very useful for business success and for effective management reducing variation is best method Natural variation It’s also called common cause. It’s a variation that occurs and can be to a precise cause.it means that the cause can be notified within a predictable range as it follows a certain distribution pattern. In case of occurrence of such variation fundamental changes are needed on the production process. In an organization is characterized by inappropriate procedures, poor design of facility, poor machine maintenance, undefined operating standards and poor working conditions. Natural variation affects virtually all the production process. By use measuring the probability and distribution which is central tendency and dispersion falls within acceptable limits then the process is in control.These natural variation can be reduced is by changing or improving the process (Antony 2005) Assignable cause Also called special cause and variation of product occurs due to an assignable cause apart from the natural cause. This cause can be traced to a number of specific causes which include the key process elements: people in organization, machines, material, material used and measurement. It can be corrected by changing the component affecting or the whole process. The main objective is to discover the assignable cause and eliminate the bad cause and incorporate in the process the good cause. It ischaracterized by emergent of new element, unplanned or previously neglected phenomena in the process and outside the history of the organization (Antony 1998) Mean, range and standard deviation of the data Below shows the calculation under the following formulas has discussed by Ahmed (2003) Mean Average Standard deviation Normal curve and the mean values relationship From the findings above it can be concluded that from the resisters taken of different Ohms they had various range from the intended sample resistance .For this to be analyzed we going to take the sample resistance and compare it to mean range and standard deviation of samples taken. In sample 297.5 it’s evident that the process is good from the fact that it has mean similar to the sample resistance and the range of 1.1 is smaller and STD DEV of 0.4 shows the values are not widely distributed within the mean. Unlike the sample with 302 Ohms which has a mean of 298 which is way below the sample of 302. From the that it has a range of 6.9 and STD DEV of 3.8 shows that products produced have a wide variance from the mean and that the symbolize products not meeting the process quality as they are way below or above the standardthe sample resistance indicated (Bird 2009). Grouping data basing on variable and attribute inspection methodology Variable method methodology For quality purposes the samples are measured in a continuous scale. In which the products are critical distance is determined from the OC curve of the data. This method however is useful in small sample size. I would involve inspectors on govern inspection and follow the following principals of confidentiality, fairness, comprehensiveness consist and clarity (Foder 1994) The control charts I would use the following control charts to ensure that I reduce the defective products p -charts, xbar and r chats. This helps in retrospective analysis of data in constructing the control limits as they help in detecting errors and facilitate removable of assignable causes. They will be used to monitor and bringing processes into control (Grzegorzewski 2000). Inspection frequency and size of batch In inspection I will use the following methods for efficiency: routine inspection, reactive reaction and specific inspection campaigns. Routine inspection will be done periodically(start of every production) to ensure compliance of proper operations, control self and monitoring systems this can be weekly by the senior supervisor. Reactive reaction and specific inspection will be done after permitting by the senior person to ensure compliance. These inspections can be triggered after complaints, accident occurrence or operations failure. I will use acceptance sampling to ensure that I save on cost and time by not doing the 100% inspection the batch.Implementation method I will implement using the SPC as it ensures acceptance of quality as other methods do not incorporate sampling and are hard to implement. SPC is easy to use and it enables one to measure and know the product if it’s meeting the specification this is to enable us to improve critical quality and resolve problem of productivity.
