Lecturer: Gay marriage should be allowed Addressing the youth/teenagers, many people have to discuss and argue about gay marriages. Some of the youth (audience) may support the statement that gay marriages should be allowed in our society while some may not. The audience is the youth simply because they commonly experience the effects of gay in the society. There has been an argument about the controversial issue of gay marriages in the society. When a man gets sexually attracted to another man, he is referred to as a gay. In other words, gay refers to male homosexuality. Gay marriage is also referred to as same-sex marriage (Burns & Kate 27). When two people of the same biological sex marry, that is known as gay marriage. According to some publications, gay marriages mean marriages between gay men as well as lesbian couples. There are many challenges facing gay marriages since some countries have prohibited and refused accepting laws about it. On the other hand, gay marriages have been accepted and legalized in many liberal countries especially in Western countries. In this case, there are both supporters and those who oppose gay marriages among us and in different countries worldwide. In many countries such as United States of America, gay people have constitutional rights to marry. There is no giving birth to babies when gay marriages are practiced. Instead some gay partners have decided to adopt children and call them their own in that matter. Many countries which support gay marriages argue that the issue of child bearing is one way or another catered for through the existence of artificially produced babies (Friedman & Lauri 78). The argument The gay marriage has been for a long time debated on by many people in different countries globally. Gay marriage concerns human rights and basic moral hence becoming an essential matter in the society. Gay marriage brings about a lot of financial benefits among individuals. Allowing and legalizing gay marriage will not do any harm to the society and family values. They will continue functioning successfully without any interference concerning gay marriages. Gay marriages should be allowed since they do not have effects such as children born out of wedlock rise, rise of divorce cases and high abortion rates in the society. Therefore, gay families establish partnership where they effectively contribute to stable and humane communities. Islam and Catholicism though condemn gay marriage and regard it as evil (Mello & Michael 39). Gay families have been issued marriage licenses which protect them and denounce them as legally married. Gay marriage should be allowed and legalized for another important reason of financial benefits. Since gay partners also pay taxes, they have a right to receive financial support and benefits in the society. They ought to gain a lot of financial benefits through decrease in cost for state benefit programs, higher income taxes and marriage licenses. By doing this, tax used on public assistance programs will be reduced in the society. Gay partners should be respected and their rights to marry be taken into consideration by individuals in the society. When gay partners love each other, they should be allowed to celebrate their commitment in public since they are expressing their feelings. They should also freely receive final gifts of marriage from relatives and friends so as to experience equality in the society. This should be a ceremonial unification of two lovers into one couple in the society. Gay marriage should also be allowed since it is unmerited and uncivilized in the society (Spilsbury & Louis 70). Love matters. It does not matter who a person falls in love with, one can love another man hence marry him because of the strong affection or intense feeling he has. Rhetorical explanation Gay marriage should be allowed and legalized because it is a civil right among individuals. Since marriage is a basic civil right of a man, gay marriage should warmly receive same protections which are given to interracial marriages in the society. Gay marriage on the other hand, is not prone to diseases such as HIV/AIDS. Gay partners will not be in any way be infected by AIDS which causes many deaths across the world. Population decline rate will not therefore be experienced if men practice gay which is healthy to individuals. By doing this, the AIDS epidemic will also be reduced globally (Roleff & Tamara 63). Banning and prohibiting gay marriage in our society, increases psychological disorders rates. This is because any marriage provides both psychological and physical health benefits among individuals such as gay marriage do. Freely allowing gay partners marry, would give them an effective access to social support which facilitates and strengthens psychological and physical health among them. Marriage such as gay marriage should not be limited by religious objections since they are all based on a secular institution. Religious leaders should not interfere with gay marriage since they only perform their marriages to satisfy the state since it has given them that authority in the society. Many children will be left in children’s’ homes and foster cares if gay marriages are not allowed. Gay marriage would make it easier for gay partners to freely adopt children and provide them with stable home for them to live comfortably and happily. If gay marriages are allowed in the society, local and state governments can receive financial gains through revenue generated from licenses issued to gay and high income taxes. In this way, economies of many countries globally will improve hence quality standards of living will be administered among individuals. The governments in many countries should be ready to support or provide some financial security to gay families (Mello & Michael 81). It is supposed not to discriminate the children of the gay families by not allowing them to enjoy the same rights as the children of the heterosexual parents in the society. Gay marriages do not in any way violate and disobey God’s word according to religious point of view of the Christians. Those who practice gay stand at a better chance in the society since they have a right to marry by choice. Youth, especially male, should be aware of the advantages and benefits of gay marriages in the society. An argument that gay marriage is a personal commitment hence the society ought not to interfere or dictate the situation has been established (Friedman & Lauri 14). In one way or another, gay marriage has no negatives effects the society. Among the youth, gay marriages cannot ruin their lives simply because there is a claim that they are exposed to immoral acts such as drug trafficking and abuse, theft and murder. When gay partners who are married, pick up a fight, in most cases they settle the issue with a lot of maturity because they understand each other well. Teenagers are although advised to avoid gay marriages in order to prevent themselves from dangerous acts. Gay does not also enhance youths to use harmful drugs such as cocaine and heroin. This is brought about peer pressure among individuals not gay marriage. Conclusion In summary, Gay marriages have rapidly increased in many countries globally. Gays have been supported by both non-governmental and governments in many countries. For example, in U.S gay marriages have been allowed and legalized. Their rights are safeguarded and outline in the constitution under the human rights section. As far as there are supporters of gay marriage, those who oppose it also exist in many countries. In some countries, gay marriage has been prohibited and condemned. It is regarded as an offence and anyone found practicing gay will be punished accordingly. In most countries a death penalty is given to the gay members. Works cited Burns, Kate. Gay marriage. Detroit: Greenhaven Press, 2005. Print. Friedman, Lauri S. Gay marriage.
