Unit 2 Case Project Questions Moe and Jennifer have been sent to another client site to configure RIP on client’s router, and they are stuck again and have called you. They were told to use the network address of 204.207.5.0. There are three interfaces on the router they are working with. The IP addresses for the interfaces are 204.207.5.97, 204.207.5.113, and 204.207.5.82. The subnet mask is 255.255.255.240. The host name for the router is “newyork”.Moe has the following questions: Question one: What mode should they be in to use the router rip command?

-global configuration modeThey should use Global Configuration Mode; this is due to the fact that it is a command applicable to the whole system as opposed to one protocol. Question two: what will the prompt look like? -routername(config)#Question three: How will the promptchange after the router rip command is issued? -routername(config-router)#While Moe is talking to you, Jennifer has jotted down the following commands she thinks they should type next and she wants Moe to ask you about them: network 204.207.5.

96network 204.207.5.112network 204.207.5.80You know Jennifer has been studying for her CCNA certification, so it looks like she is practicing for that exam on the client’s router.Question four: What do you tell her about the commands she has in mind?I would tell Jennifer that the commands that she has in mind will work fine as long as she has set the router in the correct mode. It will also be necessary for to clear any linked networks if there are any. The first step is to clear previous static routes by using the following commands;routername#config troutername(config)#no ip route x1.x1.x1.x1 x2.x2.x2.x2 x3.x3.x3.

x3routername(config)#exitwhere x1 is the source IP, x2 is the subnet mask, and x3 is the destination IP not forgetting to repeat the no ip route for all the static routes after which she should perform her rip commands;routername#config troutername(config)#router riproutername(config-router)#network 204.207.5.96routername(config-router)#network 204.207.5.112routername(config-router)#network 204.207.5.80routername(config-router)#^ReferencesConfiguring the Router.
