Role of People in Determining Direction ‎in Arizona Role of People in Determining Direction in Arizona Withthe introduction of a new constitution, not only did it bring a change to the legislature of the state, but also to the lives, well-being and economic stature of the citizens of the state of Arizona. When considering the political changes, it is evident that Arizona has faced a huge transition. Since the end of the Second World War, Arizona has primarily been a Republican dominant state.

However, after the impeachment of three consecutive Republican Governors in the 90’s, a Democrat Governor Janet Napolitano was elected twice as the governor of state in 2002 and 2008 again (McClory, 2010). Arizona has also experienced several changes in terms of its census. In 1960s, 20 years after World War II after which Arizona emerged as a modern state, its population had exactly doubled. Similarly, there was a steady economic progress recorded as well. Until nearly 2000, the reserves of the state of Arizona had increased by nearly 1000% since the World War, thus making it one of the most progressive states in the Union.

However, poverty has also been a severe issue in the state. The population of Native Americans crosses way over 200,000, which accounts for 6% in all of America. This society has basically been agrarian, however due to the lack of water even after complete diversion of the Colorado River has still not aided them. This takes the level of poverty in Arizona at a higher level as much of the northern territories of Arizona comprise of farmers. However, this has been counteracted by the handicraft industry, along with the steel and gold industry, which has provided livelihood to several citizens of the state.
