Counselor: Did you ever trust and respect your parents and people around you?Client: Yes, I fearlessly trusted my parents and close family members. so I can say that my entire family is loving and caring that do not regret being part of it. Counselor: what things did you as a child struggle to overcome and satisfy? Client: as a young child in his early childhood years, I struggled to overcome shame and doubts and at the same time, work towards achieving autonomy. These manifested through activities such as struggling to carry loads that were either loads or desire to things in my own way despite being a child.

Counselor: How did use to feel when disapproved by anyone over something you believed to know best?Client: I used to feel demeaned and irritated by any form of disapproval and resistance. Counselor: have ever felt or considered your performance in school as unpleasing or below average and embarrassing to show to your parents?Client: no, I have been a good performer and has always been free and willing to show my report forms to my parents and other family members. Counselor: At what age do expect to be independent of your parent’s support and what will you be doing at that time?

Client: I consider 18 years as the earliest time a child should be independent of the parents. The earliest I will part ways with my parents will be when I attain 22 years old and probably employed to be able to sustain my needs. Counselor: Can you say that you enjoy your adolescence? Client: being an adolescent is difficult. This relates to the availability of many vices ready targeting adolescents. Societies also tend to profile adolescence as a stage characterized by vigor and violence. Counselor: What makes you want to drink, smoke, and perhaps date many girls?

Client: as I said earlier, adolescence is a huge responsibility to bear considering the numeracy of challenges including powerful peer pressure that leads people into doing things that they would never wish to do.Analysis of the Erick Erikson’s stages of developmentTo this point in the interview, the counselor is trying to explore the basic information and details regarding the client. In response, the client depicts to have undergone through some aspects of Erick Erikson’s growth in human beings.

The client has indicated to have great trust in the members of his family their abundant loving nature on the client. According to Erick Erickson, proper feeding is the basic way that an adult earns the trust of an infant (Magnavita, 20050. The client has also hinted that he used to struggle for autonomy during his early years of growth while tackling shame. Erick explained that during early childhood, children struggle to develop feelings of personal control over skills. Success in achieving the desire results in autonomy while failure results to shame.

Toilet training that involves attempts to use the toilet by self without assistance is one of the important events performed by children in the early years of growth. The next stage of growth as developed by Erick Erikson and evident in the client is the school age. At this age, children strive to balance between new academic and social demands. Success in the endeavor signifies competence and industriousness while failure results in inferior feelings. As reported by Crocker (2008), one of the most important events at this stage is the child attending school regularly and consistently.

Adolescence that usually begins from 12 years and ends at around 18 years is another significant stage of growth recognized by Erick Erikson (Truscott, 2010). This stage characterizes many challenges that either enhance one’s identity or create confusion. It is at the stage that teens desire to develop senses of personal identities. Success in the enables the individuals to stay true and accept themselves while failure leads to confusion that also exposes the individuals to the dangers of peer pressure.
