It is notable that illegal immigration through the border with Mexico has persisted for many years, but the recent surge in illegal immigrations into the United States has led many analysts including the government to express concerns that the immigration trend might be influenced by some unhidden motives. With the existence of very few credible sources of data to precisely measure the characteristics of the rising number of unaccompanied children, immigration experts are exploring a range of explanations to discern the immigration debacle.

The factors that potentially attract unaccompanied minors to the U.S appear to be more subjective than factors that cause these minors to leave their countries of origin. Unlike the prevailing deprivation associated with harsh economic conditions, for example, perceptions of economic opportunities, as well as the promises of acquiring legal authorization to stay in the United States seem to conflict with what is legally and practically achievable (Byrne 45). The apparent relationship between the immigration policies in the United States and the recent increase in arrivals of unaccompanied minors has taken a central position in the immigration debate between policy makers and immigration analysts.

It remains unclear how some specific immigration policies may have a direct influence on the immigrants’ decisions to attempt their entry into the country. There are strong indications to suggest that perceptions of favorable U.S policies towards alien children may be acting fundamental role in attracting these unaccompanied children into the country (Levinson 22-36). In fact, the current debate regarding the possible role of unclear immigration policies in the current increase in illegal immigrations has focused on specific proposals and policies that many people belief can offer unaccompanied minors the opportunity to gain entry and reside in the United States with prospects of
