Is College Education Worth Introduction The need for college education is on the rise in the world where it is believed it opens more opportunities to the graduate. In United States, the administration of PresidentBarack Obama has promised to increasesignificantly the enrollment to colleges for students (Burke 1). According to the government, ensuring that many students get college education opens their success paths. College education is considered to open the minds of studentsandhelps them secure jobs easily than those that are uneducated.

However, it is recognized that the cost of getting college education is significantlyhigh for many students who end up getting loans to finance their learning (Brandon 1). Therefore, after graduation, many students have huge debts to settle despite the reduced availability of jobs. This paper explores whether college education is worth its cost. College education is worth Students who have acquired college degrees are more likely to get employment as compared to their colleagues with high school education (Time 1).

Therefore, though the college education is relatively expensive; it is worth. However, it is important to consider the choice of course that a student enrolls in based on its demand in the market. Some courses are more marketable than others and they pay more and this is especially related to the technical courses such as engineering (Economist 1). The payoff of engineering courses within duration of about 20 years goes beyond a value of 1 million dollars. Students who have achieved a college education are reported to be contented with their investment.

In a study that was conducted in United States 86% of the respondents said that college education was worth (Pew 1). This is from the fact that it opened their thinking and they were more likely to get employment as compared to those with high school education. Labor statistics fromUnited States further indicate that the employmentrates for college graduates are twice the national employment average (Konwerski 1). College education will remain valuable also based on the pay gap that is found between college graduate and high school graduates (Leonhardt 1).

College education remains worth alsobased onthe fact that the unemployment rate for graduates is less than 5% as compared to the average of 13% unemployment rate in United States (Morgan 1). However, college degree is becoming more expensive and reducing the number of people accessing the education. In contrary, the amount of unpaid loans by college students has grown significantly over the years challenging worthiness of the education (Rossi 1). In instances that college students are offered high subsidies on their education by government, the public suffers.

When public has to pay more taxes to educate college students who are not serious with their education the education is considered unworthy (Brandon 1).Conclusion College education though expensive is worth to the learners. This is supported by the fact that college graduates have higher chancesof getting employment as compared to high school students. Further, the pay for college graduates is relatively higher. It is also noted that the unemployment rate for the graduatesfromcollege is significantly low as compared to average unemployment rates.

However, college education has some challenges which include high cost and lack of seriousness from some students. If well utilized, collegeeducation opens opportunities for students to enjoy a good living.
