Pros: The World Wide Web is used as a communication tool. The WWW revolutionized easy access to communication through electronic mail (email). Once an individual started utilizing this form of communication and expression, it becomes part of one’s life. The good thing about this is its continuous growth and development in terms of technological advancement and the emergence of new and more sophisticated applications and programs. (Boswell )Cons: Some people still do not have access to this form of technology due to database technology and language barriers.

There is this danger of usage abuse. “With literally Impact: Pros and Cons 2millions of sites on the Web, no real governance, and more sites popping up all the time, added to the fact that Web technology has become more intrinsically woven into our lives every day, it seems to be very obvious that the Web is almost its own organism. It’s up to us to learn how to harness this power and use it effectively in our own lives, and enable those who do not have access to it in order for them to be able to compete on a more level playing field.

” (Boswell)In addition, “people publish all kinds of things, with a vast range of interest and reliability. There are learned journals on the Web, as well as other useful and interesting information, but also a lot of fairly worthless material. Readers need help, and this help can come from many sources: friends, experts, catalogs, search engines, and browsing” (Sendall 1997)ReferencesBoswell, W. “The World Wide Web: How The World Wide Web Has Changed Society”.
