They took me into their friend circle and I started to enjoy their company. Though I realized that their association would spoil my health and would cause me a lot of harm, I still went along with them. In their parties, there was boozing, drugs, and all other negative things one can think of. Though I started boozing with them I never tried drugs, as I had a sense that once I get into such activities I will never have a comeback. It was when I turned 18 that I had a good friend who could bring me back to real life and show me that there is still a lot of love and happiness in the world.

I love her and she also loved me. We started to like each other's associations and found that we are made for each other. But since I had not seen my parents in love, I always had a fear in my mind that if I get married to her I may not be as happy as I am now. So for years, we were together without getting married. Once I visited a friend's house, where I saw the real happiness of a family. It was then I found that family was not the one that I had with my parents. There are families where parents are responsible, loving, and of a very good nature.

They consider children to be a blessing from God and the fruit of their love. Then I started longing for such a family and decided to get married to the girl whom I loved. Before marriage, I had decided that the mistakes my parents had committed in their life will not be repeated. I read a lot of religious and practical books on how to keep my family happy and have a good married life. We both took initiative to take out time for each other and complete each other, rather than compete with each other.

Today, I am a father of two beautiful kids and I am really happy. I realize that though I was in a bad association, I had a few good friends who helped me to see the good part of life. However, there are also many who are not as fortunate as me. I have decided to be a good husband and a good father for my kids. Children are a gift from God and it is the responsibility of each parent to bring them up in love and self-respect, to protect them from getting into bad associations, and to give them the best education.

It is only in a peaceful and loving atmosphere that a child can develop all his potentials. I believe that when a couple gets married they are responsible for each other, but when they have a child they both are responsible towards their child for their lifetime. I have learned lessons from my own experience and I am sure that I will not repeat the mistakes my parents did. I believe that there is nothing wrong to be career-oriented but after marriage, the first responsibility is towards fulfilling the family's needs.
