Marijuana Must Be Forbidden The issue of marijuana legalization has been in the list of top-controversial topics of American society for the last fewdecades. The proponents of legalization of the drug just can’t understand what is wrong with marijuana if it doesn’t do any harm to human health. Indeed, if it were so, then there would be no issue at all. However, multiple researches that considered the effects of marijuana on human organism have revealed that the drug is extremely harmful and can’t be legalized; furthermore, marijuana shouldn’t be available for mass consumptions under no circumstances ever.

First of all, the most harmful consequence of marijuana usage is the risk that people put themselves into while being under the influence of marijuana. A research conducted by neuroscientists has denoted that marijuana causes brain damage and leads to multiple abnormalities in cognitive and perceptual functioning of human organism. Hence, under the influence of the preparation people’s behavior becomes deviant, their cognition becomes vague and the reality confuses. Such a destruction of people’s state of awareness may cause certain inadequate actions like destructive conduct or decrease of the self-preservation instinct, which in fact means that marijuana users may even risk their lives while they are influenced by the drug.

Some may argue that wise and careful usage of marijuana doesn’t lead to such severe conditions and has no harmful consequences. Well, probably it is so, but let’s consider the situation when marijuana is legalized and available for everyone who wants it. Can you be sure that some mentally disordered person would inhibit oneself and wouldn’t overuse the drug? Probably no, you can’t be. So now imagine that the society with legalized weapons-bearing is also allowed to use such psychedelic drugs as marijuana is.

How safe would you feel yourself in such society?Moving on, it is important to note another aspect of marijuana usage and figure out why do people need it and in what purposes they are going to use it. First of all, if marijuana is legalized, it is obvious that people will start using it for the purposes apart from the ones that concern marijuana’s anesthetic effect. People might start using it more often as the drug is an effective remedy against depression and frustrating mind conditions (in which we all find ourselves from time to time and everybody wants to get rid of their problems).

However, frequent application of the remedy, according to certain psychologists’ studies, leads to extremely dangerous consequences. The point is that scientists consider marijuana to be a kind of drug that may cause more harmful than helpful consequences. They call this phenomena a “gateway drug” which means that if somebody gets used to marijuana, later he becomes inclined to some heavier drugs, because in some time marijuana’s effect gets reduced and the users start seeking for some stronger drugs.

Doesn’t it look like creation of the entire generation of drug addicts, without mentioning the fact that marijuana indeed causes addiction in the first place?Even though marijuana may be useful sometimes under a strict control of medical workers, it still remains the kind of drug that makes human conscious be uncontrolled and causes mental disorders. These are enough reasons to consider marijuana to be a quite dangerous product to be in free use. That is why the legalization of its usage should be denied.
