Extract of sample "Racial Divison in the USA"

I have experienced many cases of racial division in my life.  I am African American who was born in the poorest city in the USA, which is Camden, New Jersey.  The city was racially diverse, but the majority of people who lived there were either African American or Hispanic. According to Taibbi (2013), white people left the city long ago when local industries were no longer profitable. The city became the hostage for minorities with all expected negative consequences which were represented by high unemployment rates, a challenging criminal environment, poverty, and a lack of social services.

The situation in Camden shows that racial division can be represented not by schools or neighborhoods only. It can embrace the whole cities which serve as homes for minority people. The level of life in these cities is significantly lower than in the places where the majority of residents in white. For instance, the average household income in Camden equals $21,191, and the white population merits 4.1% out of 71000 local residents. On the contrary, the average household income in New Jersey is $67,458 with 70% of the white population (City-data.com, 2013).  Obviously, Camden shows that racial division leads to nothing good for people. It is not the best place to live because of an unsafe environment, poor school education, and minimal employment chances.

Such a situation can be seen in poor minority neighborhoods which host migrants and poor people who cannot afford to live anywhere else. Racial division is connected with various economic and social reasons which separate people into different racial groups. People who happen to live in such neighborhoods often lack opportunities to escape this situation and start a new life. In this way, it is rational to suppose that people can cope with the racial division if they are informed about the outcomes of this issue first.

Racial awareness is a must in modern American society because it covers problems people try not to discuss usually. If America wants to have a better society, all members should take care of each other. Community initiative in these cases is the most influential tool. People who live in conditions of racial division disbelieve in inequality and the American dream. However, when they receive professional support, they can be inspired to integrate into diverse and big US society.

Cities, neighborhoods, and communities which suffer from racial division need to have the access to professional help. They require enthusiastic and compassionate people who want to live in a better country. To attract these people to the places where they are needed, cooperation with the media is required. Moreover, the issue of racial division can attract investors represented by corporations that seek the nice opportunity to realize their diverse corporate social responsibility campaigns. If such a system appears to function properly attracting more money to find a solution, more people can be inspired to help. Appropriate rehabilitation, family, and education community services can provide the necessary support to people who experience racial division and make them feel that they are needed by their country.
