Artworks have been part of the culture of humankind for thousands of years. This paper will discuss the difference between installation and traditional art as well as performance and performing arts. Installation Art involves a comprehensive collection of ordinary materials mainly selected because of their attractiveness.  It also includes new media like videos, shows and internet among others. On the other hand, traditional art is produced locally by ordinary people (Frank, Preble & Preble 12). Examples of traditional artworks are paintings and sculptures.

While a lot of installations are created to fit in a particular location, historical artifacts are not. Traditional art is mainly used for ornamental purpose rather than installation art which is mainly used for aesthetic purposes (Frank, Preble & Preble 17).Performance art is the kind of art whereby an artist does a live performance occasionally accompanied by other performers. This genre is often used by artists who are dissatisfied with the conservative forms of art like paintings and sculptures and want to refresh their work through performance (Frank, Preble & Preble 21). The art of this kind is useful in anarchic movements like futurism. In contrast performing arts are those whereby artists use their voices and body movements accompanied by other objects to deliver their message. In conclusion installation, art is different from traditional art in the sense that installation art involves a comprehensive collection of ordinary materials mainly selected because of their attractiveness while traditional art is produced locally by ordinary people. In performance art, an artist does a live performance accompanied by other performers whereas performing arts are those whereby artists use their voices and body movements accompanied by other objects to deliver their message.
