Extract of sample "Why Therapy Is an Effective Method of Treatment"

Most of the therapies focus on unconscious relationship patterns, self-development, psychical feelings, and thoughts and perceptions.

Therapy has proved to be an effective method of treatment for many psychological disorders. Therapies focus on developing positive behaviors and discouraging maladaptive behaviors (Stevens). An effective therapy not only adds meaning to the life of a person but also alleviates pain and promotes self-actualization. There is no such drug or medicine, which can help a person come out of psychological problems properly. On the other hand, therapies are effective because they work systematically by analyzing the causes of psychological problems and then helping people overcome their concerns and issues using inner powers of determination and self-control. According to Butcher, Mineka, and Hooley, therapies help people alleviate abnormal behaviors and develop acceptable ones.

Therapies are also effective because they help people develop mental strength, as well as other positive qualities, such as self-esteem, confidence, and motivation. Therapies also help people change their way of thinking and behaviors to overcome many of their psychological problems. Looking at these aspects, we can say that therapies are effective for the treatment of almost every psychological or health problem. Read More
