? Career Plan Career Plan Looking at how quickly time is flying, it is just a matter of time before I am out of college and graduatewith a degree in Business. However, graduation does not guarantee me a career in the competitive job market if I fail to take advantage of my strengths and recognize areas that I should take advantage of and enhance my capacity to succeed in my career. Following my college graduation, I will get directly into employment and continue with my education on a part-time basis with the job opportunity being a chance to start gaining experience in the job market. That said, I want to become a career human resources manager since I realize the importance of using an organization’s human resource capital efficiently in order to enhance productivity in an organization. Strengths and Weaknesses Concerning my strengths, I have strong interpersonal skills. In this case, I am able to connect and relate with people since I am a keen listener and engage people because I communicate well with them and make them express themselves better by making them confident when we are communicating. This will help me establish good relationships with my colleagues and help me achieve my career goals since I will have the capacity of completing my roles and responsibilities within an organization. Other than strong interpersonal skills, I am a well-organized individual and an orderly person with regard to my roles as a student and my personal life. Good organization skills are essential for effective management and in particular to an individual aspiring to build a career in human resource management. My strengths include efficiency in change management and responding critically to emergencies without being emotional. This will be an essential skill in analyzing the areas that my organization needs to respond quickly and efficiently to in order to ensure effective management of changes in the workplace. On the other hand, I am able to think analytically and solve problems using logical thinking. This is crucial in identifying all the key aspects of an issue including its pros and cons for each alternative solutions and consequently implementing the solution that would effectively address the issues at hand. Concerning my weaknesses, my major weakness lies in my exemplary organization skills. In this case, I have witnessed several occasions in which I have pushed my capabilities hard to ensure there was perfection in achieving my goals. In this case, I work overly hard to achieve my goals, and I even push other people hard in order for us to achieve the goals of the tasks ahead. This character of being overly passionate in achieving perfection makes me stubborn to a far extent. Nonetheless, I will use my strong interpersonal skills to ensure that I do not become overly stubborn due to my desire of ensuring perfection. Goals and Objectives My main career goal is to become the best in the human resources management field and help my organization to achieve its vision and mission by efficiently using the human resource capital. To achieve this goal, my aim will be to ensure that personnel in my organization were managed to the extent that allowed them to utilize their potential and work towards achieving organizational goals. Moreover, my goal is to ensure that there was increased productivity every year by tapping out the capabilities of the organization’s personnel and align their goals to the organizational goals, which will improve productivity. Other than these goals, I want to contribute to the field of human resources management by identifying various areas that an organization should focus on in order to exploit the capacity and potential of its personnel. Achieving the goal of improving productivity will encompass various objectives that I must accomplish in order to achieve my goals. First, I will enroll for a master’s degree program in human resources management one year after my college graduation. In this case, I want to focus on acquiring skills and knowledge that will improve my responsibilities in the area of human resources management. Most probably, the program will take two years within which I will be working as a human resources officer. Immediately after acquiring my masters, my objective will be to seek a managerial position in the field of human resources management by either requesting for a promotion in my workplace or to find a similar position in any other organization. By this time, I will have acquired the necessary skills from my human resources officer position with my knowledge and expertise further advanced by the master’s program. To achieve the goal of contributing to the field of human resources management, I will write articles and publish them in international human resources management journals. The main theme of my articles will be to contribute to my career field by finding the appropriate human resources management practices that address various organizational needs and how organizations should implement these practices. In effect, I will be able to provide my input in developing the field of human resources management. My objective is to write the first article five years after my graduation since I shall have acquired experience in the field. Thereafter, subsequent articles will be published annually as part of examining my growth in the field. Projection of my Ideal State Within five years, I want to have achieved various milestones in making my human resources manager career a reality. Most importantly, I should have a master’s degree in human resources management five years from now. A master’s degree, in my career, will be essential in ensuring that I had a high chance of rising to the position of human resources manager within the organization. Short of being a human resources manager position in the organization that I will be then working as a human resources officer, I should be working in another organization under the same capacity as a human resources manager. I know that acquiring a master’s degree in human resources management will provide me with the advantage of making this a reality. Other than being a human resources manager, I want to have the first article written and published five years from now. By five years, I know I will have gained a lot of experience in my human resources management field and the skills, knowledge, and expertise I would have gained will help me achieve my objective. Besides, studying for my Masters Degree program will provide me with the skills of writing quality academic papers that will pass peer reviewing. Hence, I will use the writing skills to produce a quality article on improving the field of human resources management. I know a combination of practice, in the field of human resources management, and knowledge acquired during the studying of my Masters Degree program will give me an edge in developing a paper that will have carried out an efficient inquiry on the knowledge and its applicability in practice. This first paper will set the path towards my contributions to the field of human resources management. Projections of the Most Likely State I know there is a likelihood of achieving the desired state five years from now. With this in mind, I have made various projections of my most likely state five years from now. First, being in a human resources management position five years from now could appear ambitious. Hence, the most likely position that I think I would be in five years from is the position of an assistant human resources manager. In this case, my master’s degree provides me an opportunity of career advancement, and it is highly unlikely that I would perform the roles of a human resources officer even after having a master’s degree in human resources management. In this case, I know that experience, as a human resources officer and the knowledge gained during my studies would earn me a managerial position or an assistant manager’s position, at the very least. In case this fails, I will seek employment in another organization that would have an opening for a human resources manager’s position or an assistant manager’s position. Although I expect to have published the first article five years from now, there is a possibility that the achievement of this objective could be delayed. Therefore, I expect to have prepared the manuscript after five years with the work undergoing the first set of revision from me before passing it over to my peers for further reviewing. Within five years, the passion and knowledge that I should have acquired will enable me produce quality work that will pass peer reviewing and eventually undergo publication in an international journal. Action Plan I know that attaining the ideal state is a challenge since it appears as overly ambitious. However, I have made plans on how to bridge the gap between the ideal and the actual state in order to lessen the gap between these two states. First, I acknowledge that becoming a human resources manager is dependent on my completion of a master’s degree program in human resources management. Therefore, I realize that joining the program immediately after graduating from college will ensure that I was on track towards achieving my goals. For this reason, I will apply for a master’s degree program in various colleges after acquiring my college certificate. This will ensure that I maintained the momentum of achieving my master’s degree in human resources management with the failure of attaining the ideal state being limited to other reasons unrelated to my academic achievement. Although the ideal state is to publish an article in my career line five years from now, I understand that this might not be possible. I want to use my knowledge in writing my Masters Program assignments to develop my manuscript and especially start on my article immediately I complete defending my thesis. In this case, I will build up on the skills that I acquire from my workplace with the knowledge that I will acquire in class in order to write my articles while the experience of my instructors will be essential in delivering a quality paper. Since work, studies, and other aspects of my life could slow my progress, my projection is to have completed a manuscript for my work five years from now. Read More
